ABOUT ME

My Values & Coaching Style

Hi, I’m Amy - the founder of Elevate Life Coaching.

Throughout my life, I’ve always been passionate about understanding people, complex problem solving and pondering the art of the possible.

My style as a coach is a combination of empathy, compassion, honesty, optimism, logic and practicality. Connecting with people and making a positive, lasting difference is what I strive towards.

I believe change is always possible with the right level of support.

Educational Background & Career History

My interest in helping and understanding others began when I studied A-level Psychology and was further cemented when I went on to read Psychology at university.

After graduating, I spent the next 20 years working in business. For the majority of that time I was employed by the BBC and worked in TV Production and Digital Media.

Initially I worked in Production Finance roles on music programmes like Later…with Jools Holland, The Mercury Prize, Glastonbury and The Proms. This was followed by a number of roles supporting comedy productions including Miranda and That Mitchell & Webb Look.

Later on in my career, I moved from TV production into Business Operations within the Digital Media space at the BBC. Learning all about Product Development, I worked with directors and leadership teams who were responsible for designing, building and maintaining some of the most well known and loved BBC apps - iPlayer, Sounds, News and Sport.

Leadership Experience

Throughout the last 10 years of my corporate career, I led Business Management teams, helping to develop others to reach their potential. This really suited me and I thrived on leading people with authenticity and empathy. I also became a mother during this period and was promoted three times following my return to work, after a year on maternity leave.

Why I Became a Coach

Coaching was a natural next step. I wanted to focus on people even further - each and every day if possible - and draw more heavily on my Psychology training from the past. I felt keen to use the knowledge I’d gained in business, leadership, relationships and parenting to help support other women and give something back.

I’ve been…

A new employee or leader, a woman trying to get ahead in a male dominated industry, a busy new mum trying to balance work and home life, or frustrated in a role I’d outgrown or felt stressful.

I’ve prepared for and been involved in many interview and hiring processes over the years (both as interviewee and hiring manager) and have helped to manage organisational restructures and redundancies.

Learning from my prior experiences has been insightful and always worthwhile. Being coached myself at work was a turning point in my career - I believe fully in the process and know first hand it works.

How I Like to Work

My aim is to help you grow and come away with a clear outcome and tangible next steps, whilst also knowing yourself much better.

The approach I take is supportive, transparent and collaborative in order to unlock the change and development you are looking for.

My Coaching Credentials

My training was undertaken with Animas Centre for Coaching, a triple accredited provider based in the UK. Their diploma is endorsed by the International Coach Federation, the European Mentoring & Coaching Council, and the Association for Coaching and is recognised across the world for its rigour and standards.

MY COACHING METHOD

  • Focus

It all starts by learning how to focus on what you want.

  • Reflect

Next, you’ll reflect on what may be blocking you, and learn how to overcome these obstacles.

  • Refine

The last step? We learn how to continually refine what we’ve learned and put next steps into place. Think of this as your new beginning.
